Fund the Movement

Fuel the fire.

We operate in the open, under CC0. Every cent goes to research, documentation, legal fights, maps, gear for builders, and keeping this site alive.

TL;DR

Direct support works today: GitHub Sponsors, Liberapay, Ko-fi, Open Collective, crypto, and SEPA bank transfer. Links go live as each rail is verified — if one is missing, it's coming.

Give directly

These rails work globally, have low fees, and don't require donors to sign anything.

International donors

Card and wallet donations from anywhere work via GitHub Sponsors, Ko-fi, and Open Collective. For businesses that need an invoice, Open Collective is the cleanest path — our fiscal host issues a proper receipt on our behalf.

Grants, stipends & NGOs

The running list of funders we're tracking — grants, fellowships, and NGOs whose missions align — lives in the repo as funding-leads.md. Anyone can suggest a funder: open an issue tagged funding or email freetobuildmovement@gmail.com.

What the money funds

  • Legal research — jurisdiction maps of adverse possession, allodial titles, and unclaimed-land law
  • On-the-ground documentation — travel stipends for builders claiming and documenting real land
  • Software & maps — an open registry of claimed plots, cadastral overlays, and hosting
  • Design & media — translations, videos, signage, posters, PDFs (yes, the press pack)
  • Nothing goes to salaries for founders. Transparent books on Open Collective.
We take no money from governments that criminalize building a home.

Become a fiscal host or legal partner

We're evaluating fiscal hosts (Open Collective, OFTW, Fiscal Sponsorship Allies, and regional equivalents). If you run a foundation, association, or cooperative and want to host us — please reach out.

Small donations, giant reach.
