Free to Build is a global revolution to restore the most basic human right: the freedom to claim unclaimed land and build your own shelter — without permits, licenses, fees, or government approval.

The Proposal
Article 31. The Right to Build Freely.
The 1948 Universal Declaration of Human Rights affirms the right to property and to housing. It does not yet protect the single act that makes those rights real — claiming unclaimed or abandoned land and building your own shelter on it. We propose one more article.
Everyone has the inherent right to claim unclaimed or long-abandoned land and to construct a dwelling or shelter for themselves and their family thereon — without permit, license, fee, or prior authorization.
